Phantasy Star Online first released back in 2001 on the Dreamcast and by the end of the same year on Gamecube. My friends and I were thoroughly addicted to the game, playing multiplayer constantly to get better gear. Well now that the game launches at the end of the week in Japan, Sega made the announcement that Phantasy Star Online 2 will be hitting the US early next year.

An announcement trailer hit today (we will have it up once it is in a format that we are able to upload) as well as a teaser site. The game will hit here on PC, iOS, Android and PS Vita. The best part is it will be free to play (after the purchase of the game of course). PSO hasn’t had that major addictive impact since 2001, with the Universe titles floundering, but positive feedback from beta testers and a lot of hype out of Japan I am hoping this game changes all of that.
