Fantasy Movie League Week 7

17 06 2013

  1. Wumbo: 105 points (The Great Gatsby (Done), Fast and Furious 6)
  2. C*nt P*nt: 85 points (Iron Man 3(Done))
  3. Son of Fizbitch: 83 points (Hangover III(Done), After Earth, Now You See Me)
  4. Team Zigglypuff: 73 points (Star Trek Into Darkness(Done), This Is The End)
  5. The Head Writer of Impact: 23 points
  6. 1.21 GigaWATTS: 0 points
  7. Madea Saves Arbor Day: 0 points
  8. The Left Testicle: 0 points

Man of Steel opened up to a big, record breaking total for June which gave a 23 point injection to the arm of Head Writer of Impact. While Star Trek Into Darkness reached it’s 30 day end This Is The End debuted for Team Zigglypuff keeping the momentum going as they make strides to move up the ladder. Son of Fizbitch is close to taking 2nd place, but it took three movies to get there compared to C*nt P*nt’s one and one film (Hangover Part III) met an early exit due to stiff competition. Meanwhile Wumbo is the first team to cross 100 points with the performance of Fast and Furious 6.

Next week C*nt P*nt will return to the competition as World War Z opens on Friday and the hype for the film has been pretty big.

Fantasy Movie League Week 6

10 06 2013

  1. Wumbo: 97 points (The Great Gatsby (Done), Fast and Furious 6)
  2. C*nt P*nt: 85 points (Iron Man 3(Done)
  3. Son of Fizbitch: 70 points (Hangover III, After Earth, Now You See Me)
  4. Team Zigglypuff: 54 points (Star Trek Into Darkness)
  5. 1.21 GigaWATTS: 0 points
  6. Madea Saves Arbor Day: 0 points
  7. The Head Writer of Impact: 0 points
  8. The Left Testicle: 0 points

No one had a new release this week so we stick with updated stats for those teams with movies still in the running. Wumbo loses the Great Gatsby due to it’s 30 day limit being reached, yet the final weekend combined with another strong weekend from Fast and Furious 6 moves Wumbo into first place. Another position change took place as Team Zigglypuff could no longer hold Son of Fizbitch back with only Star Trek. The three active films for Fizbitch has put them 15 points behind second, but with their films falling down the ranks and two new releases hitting this week, we could see our first film drop from the top 10 before their 30 days are up. As we said this weekend will see two new releases, This Is The End and Man of Steel. Zack Snyder’s Superman flick will be the debut of Head Writer of Impact, while This Is The End will be Team Zigglypuff’s second film to release. June will be kicking things to another gear in just a few days!

Fantasy Movie League Week 5

3 06 2013

  1. C*nt P*nt: 85 points (Iron Man 3(Done))
  2. Wumbo: 80 points (The Great Gatsby, Fast and Furious 6)
  3. Team Zigglypuff: 45 points (Star Trek Into Darkness)
  4. Son of Fizbitch: 44 points (Hangover III, After Earth, Now You See Me)
  5. 1.21 GigaWATTS: 0 points
  6. Madea Saves Arbor Day: 0 points
  7. The Head Writer of Impact: 0 points
  8. The Left Testicle: 0 points

The standings are on the verge change as five points separate 1st from 2nd and one point separates 4th and 3rd. The disappointing bomb of After Earth is a blow to Son of Fizbitch, but the surprise performance of Now You See Me appears to be a saving grace that allows the team to still be competitive, though it is taking the combined total of 3 movies to contend with Team Zigglypuff’s one film. C*nt P*nt takes a hiatus until until World War Z on the 21st. This coming weekend we take a break from new releases as no team has a releasing film. However the weekend of the 14th will be huge as The Head Writer of Impact will debut with possible blockbuster Man of Steel. Take this week as a breather before another heavy hitting weekend at the box office.

Fantasy Movie League Week 4

28 05 2013

  1. C*nt P*nt: 78 points (Iron Man 3)
  2. Wumbo: 57 points (The Great Gatsby, Fast and Furious 6)
  3. Team Zigglypuff: 34 points (Star Trek Into Darkness)
  4. Son of Fizbitch: 15 points (Hangover III)
  5. 1.21 GigaWATTS: 0 points
  6. Madea Saves Arbor Day: 0 points
  7. The Head Writer of Impact: 0 points
  8. The Left Testicle: 0 points

With Wumbo gaining their 2nd film, and that film bringing in a tremendous opening weekend they are 21 points behind current leader C*nt P*nt. Son of Fizbitch saw their first film open this weekend in the form of Hangover III getting them on the board. Next weekend will see a few developments as Iron Man 3 will reach it’s 30 day limit leaving C*nt P*nt movie-less until June 21st with the release of World War Z. Son of Fizbitch will jump from one movie to three with the release of both After Earth and Now You See Me. It will be an exciting series of developments as the Fantasy Movie League rolls into June

Fantasy Movie League Week 3

20 05 2013

Star Trek Into Darkness opened this weekend, Iron Man 3 crossed the $300 Million mark, and we get one more week into the Fantasy Movie League. Lets check the standings!

  1. C*nt P*nt: 68 points (Iron Man 3)
  2. Wumbo: 26 points (The Great Gatsby)
  3. Team Zigglypuff: 18 points (Star Trek Into Darkness)
  4. 1.21 GigaWATTS: 0 points
  5. Son of Fizbitch: 0 points
  6. Madea Saves Arbor Day: 0 points
  7. The Head Writer of Impact: 0 points
  8. The Left Testicle: 0 points

Star Trek opened on it’s first weekend taking the top spot and earning over $80 Million leaving him 8 points out from taking 2nd place. However that close margin may not last for long as Fast & Furious 6 opens this coming weekend and will be Wumbo’s 2nd film on the board. Combine that with The Great Gatsby sticking around and possibly breaking the $100 Million mark by that point and C*nt P*nt may start to see some stiff competition. Also opening that weekend is The Hangover Part III(owned by Son of Fizbitch), the last installment of the extremely successful Comedy franchise looking to battle it out with Fast 6 for the top spot. Things will really start to heat up in this competition and big budget movies continue to be released through this first month of the Summer Movie Season.

Fantasy Movie League Week 32

17 12 2012

  1. 1.21 GigaWATTS: 258 Points (FINAL TOTAL)
  2. Patty Hearst Syndrome: 249 Points (FINAL TOTAL)
  3. Team Harpo’s Harpies: 229 Points (Dark Shadows(Done), MIB III(Done), Ice Age: CD(Done), Taken 2(Done), Rise of the Guardians)
  4. The Escape From The Return of Butt Mountain: 210 Points (FINAL TOTAL)
  5. Joseph Park Sucks: 206 Points (FINAL TOTAL)
  6. The Escape From The Return of Butt Mountain II: Electric Boogaloo: 200 Points (FINAL TOTAL)
  7. Fang McFrost: 140 Points (Madagascar 3(Done), Step Up 4(Done), Resident Evil Retribution(Done), Paranormal Activity 4(DONE), Red Dawn)

That’s it! With the conclusion of Twilight: Breaking Dawn Part 2′s 30 day run the Championship is decided. 1.21 GigaWATTS wins the Fantasy Movie League Season 2 Title. Two teams still have one film active with their final weekend coming this weekend, but neither has a chance at the top prize. What you see now will more than likely be the final standings come next weekend.

In the end the Avengers and a well decided roster adjustment kept 1.21 GigaWATTS at the top of the leaderboard for 31 out of 32 weeks. With the new point system and this season to show it’s results it will give each owner a new perspective when drafting films. While the big tent pole titles are still the ones to grab, kids films look to be big targets as well as timely horror films. Who knows how the league will pan out in 2013, but until then have a happy holiday and we will see you one more time next week!

Fantasy Movie League Week 31

9 12 2012

  1. 1.21 GigaWATTS: 258 Points (FINAL TOTAL)
  2. Patty Hearst Syndrome: 243 Points (Total Recall(Done), Bourne Legacy(Done), Looper(Done), Skyfall(Done), Twilight: Breaking Dawn Part 2)
  3. Team Harpo’s Harpies: 219 Points (Dark Shadows(Done), MIB III(Done), Ice Age: CD(Done), Taken 2(Done), Rise of the Guardians)
  7. Fang McFrost: 137 Points (Madagascar 3(Done), Step Up 4(Done), Resident Evil Retribution(Done), Paranormal Activity 4(DONE), Red Dawn)

This was the best chance Patty Hearst Syndrome had at taking the title, with their final weekend of having two dominating films, skyfall made an unpredictable jump to 1st place. Even more shocking is Twilight dropping to 3rd, allowing Rise of the Guardians to take 2nd place. With that surprising leap for Guardians, that may be the thing that keeps Patty Hearst Syndrome from taking the crown. They have next weekend to gain 16 points from the last Twilight installment to take the crown, and with The Hobbit opening Friday it will be a tough battle.

Next weekend will determine the season for the Fantasy Movie League 2012!
