“Arrow” TV Trailer
18 05 2012
I would say its my birthday but that’s already come and past. But seems typical I do an article about the TV show yesterday and the day after an actual trailer for it appears. So lets break a few things down in it. I will say at the beginning if they trimmed and shaped that bear up it would have been perfect.

“Arrow”: The Green Arrow TV Show
17 05 2012So I haven’t talked about this show yet because I was waiting for some more concrete stuff. Such as photo’s a video. Today I got a few of those.
Lets get the basics of who Oliver Queen aka the Green Arrow is.
Green Arrow is a fictional character, a superhero that appears in comic books published by DC Comics. Created by Mort Weisinger and George Papp, he first appeared in More Fun Comics #73 in November 1941. His secret identity is Oliver Queen, billionaire and former mayor of fictional Star City. Dressed like Robin Hood, Green Arrow is an archer who invents trick arrows with various special functions, such as glue arrows, net, explosive, time bomb, grappling, fire extinguishing, flash and tear gas arrows, as well as cryonic, boxing-glove arrows, and even a kryptonite arrow. Originally developed as an archery-themed analogue of the very popular Batman character, writers at DC have developed Green Arrow into a voice of left-wing and progressive politics very much distinct in character from Batman, with his own supporting cast.

Stephen Amell is cast as Green Arrow
31 01 2012So a while back I had put up an article about a possible Green Arrow TV Show. Well looks like the CW is really going forward with it as Stephen Amell has been cast to play as Green Arrow. The show itself is called “Arrow” and the pilot will be directed by David Nutter with Andrew Kreisberg, Greg Berlanti and Marc Guggenheim providing both written/executive producing duties.

Green Arrow joins the JLA
17 01 2012So according to DC’s blog my favorite archer Green Arrow is set to join the Justice League. Interestingly enough the Justice League by this time has been arrow for 5 years. Which begs the question how old Ollie is at this point. But hey its cool because in the original DCU Green Arrow was also the first to join the League(outside the initial roster) which would leave me to believe the Atom(another DC favorite of mine) shouldn’t be to far behind.

DC Nation Teaser
14 11 2011So what is it. I don’t know but when I watched this thing I damned cartoon network for not having this when I was 7 years younger at the least. But essentially DC Nation is a block of programming that will be airing on Cartoon Network with various DC related things happening from new show, to shorts, to new from the studios, and behinds the scenes. Either way it looks neat and I am too old for it………kinda.

King of the Nerds
2 09 2011No not that guy its what Hollywood is looking for right now and all I have to say is what the hell Hollywood. So the producers of Mythbusters, Amazing Race and Survivor are looking for 21-30 male and females to showcase they knowledge in all things fantasy. Here’s an excerpt Via Kotaku
“Are you a super fan of STAR WARS, STAR TREK, HARRY POTTER, LORD OF THE RINGS, BATTLESTAR, or DRAGONS and WIZARDS?
Are you a GAMER who owns every console and maxes out trophies and achievements? Do you have an outrageous collection of TOYS and/or COMIC BOOKS? Are you passionate about MATHEMATICS, PHYSICS, BIOLOGY, etc? Do you build ROBOTS and write APPS and PROGRAMS for fun? Do you consider yourself a MAKER or DIY person? Have you ever been to BURNING MAN? Are you obsessed with SUPER HEROES? Are you a D&D or WoW fanatic? Do you love everything SCI-FI? Are you ARDUINO proficient? Are you in MENSA?
If you answered “yes” to any of the above or you consider yourself a geek or nerd and are between the ages of 21 to 30, then audition today!”
Amusing as it sounds I don’t know if Hollywood really wants this. A show of creatures that I generally refer to as Morlocks. Indeed we here at the DDF enjoy video games, comics, and movies but they are looking for a whole different level of nerd I think. I believe Hollywood wants the basement dwelling kind of nerd. The kind of nerd that gets stuffed in lockers. When I went to college I made it a point to stay clear away from these people for the fact I like the sun(despite being a ginger) and having stimulating conversations. Not the kind that involves a foam sword and inhalers. Either way Hollywood do as you please I will have no part of this show and any of its shenanigans.

>Seth MacFarlane wins the rights to the Flinstones
16 05 2011>Do you hear that sound. Its the sound of jaws dropping and/or possible people banging their heads on desk.
Esspecially Since Seth MacFarlane has won the rights to reboot the show (according to Deadline). Now as much as their is fear for MacFarlane’s raunchy comedic styling I have no problem with this. If there is one thing for sure MacFarlane has a enormous respect for the source material.
MacFarlane has been quoted in the Toronto Sun as saying:
“My philosophy is if it’s something that can potentially ruin the show forever, then it’s probably something we should try,” MacFarlane said. “That has served us fairly well as (Family Guy) has aged.
“At the end of the day, what’s the worst that could happen? Shows live and die all the time. Better to go out taking some risks than to rest on your laurels and fall into lazy patterns.”
Either way I don’t see much upside to this news. Either MacFarlane will make it raunchy (and probably pretty entertaining) this time around, ruining the show’s legacy, or he will play it straight and give us an unfunny, dated cartoon, which everyone will have deemed unnecessary. I’m hoping for the former, but mostly I’m just hoping this doesn’t happen.
