What you may have missed: King of Fighters XIII edition.

8 12 2011

The King of Fighters XIII I love this game. Love it so much I couldn’t help but notice characters in the background. This game has a bunch of random characters in the background not just from the KOF series but also from Last Blade, Samurai Showdown, Art of Fighting, Metal Slug, Savage Reign, and Fatal Fury series.

>Thor: Easter Eggs Odin’s Treasure Room and What you may have missed

16 05 2011

>So I been meaning to do another one of these article but it kind of slipping my mind. Not to mention stuff that you may have actually missed. Now on to Thor and in normal Marvel movie continuity they love their little easter eggs and throwing them into their moves. And besides the casket of Ancient Winters their were other Marvel Universe relics inside Odin’s Treasure Room.

Photobucket

The Eternal Flame – Mystical flame that cannot be extinguished. It was stolen from Surtur by Odin, Vili(brother to Odin), and Ve Borson(also brother to Odin) at the dawn of time so that Surtur could not light his sword and bring about Ragnarok.

The Infinity Gauntlet – The Infinity Gauntlet was designed to hold six of the ‘soul gems’, better known as the Infinity Gems. The Infinity Gems consist of Space, Time, Power, Reality, The Soul, and The Mind. When used in combination their already impressive powers made the wearer God-Like. It was gathered by the mad Titan Thanos(my personal favorite character in all of comics) as he took the gems from the Elders of the Universe that had originally carried them.

The Warlock’s Eye – A powerful, mystical weapon used unsuccessfully against Odin, Thor and the Warriors Three during an invasion of Asgard.

Orb of Agamotto – A scrying crystal ball used by Doctor Strange for clairvoyance. It has been known to open gateways between dimensions.

Tablet of Life & Time – On the tablet was a biochemical formula for a serum, the so-called Lifeline Formula, which could rejuvinate, heal and grant its user the chance to reach the full evolutionary potential of its race turning the user into an immortal near omnipotent being.

Not pictured but in comics is also in Odin’s treasure room.

Twighlight Sword – Also known as the Sword of Doom, the Twilight Sword is a powerful weapon wielded by Surtur.

>What you may have missed- DCU Online

13 02 2011

>So with Marvel vs Capcom 3 just a few short days away a few games that have been out are about to get in my opinion(imo) overshadowed and forgotten. Today I am going to talk about a game that have been out for over a month but people may have been unsure about. That game being DCU Online.

This is a game that has been several years in the making since 2006. The idea of this game came on the heals of the successful City of Heroes made by Cryptic Studios and NCSoft. SOE Austin studios which has a pedigree in MMO’s having created Everyquest worked with Jim Lee who is famous for his works on titles such as X-Men and most recently his work with Jeph Loeb on the year long Batman: Hush story served as the main driving force and as the Executive Creative Director. Most particularly with the art in the game that is heavily influenced by Jim Lee. To another extreme that story and writing was done by Geoff Johns who is DC’s CCO and blessed us with his writing on both Green Lantern and Flash comics. The game centers around the end of a Super war where you see Lex Luthor finally sticking it to Superman. However Brainiac’s forces start to invade and since the war had been going on for so long most of the Heroes and Villians have been killed. So future Luthor who had been captured by Brainiac escapes and steals little nano-machines call exobytes and travels back through to and gives them to the present day heroes and villians so that can give normal human beings can gain powers as an attempt to bolster the numbers to stop Brainiac’s invasion.

So enough back story with the game. You start off with and extensive but IMO kinda limited create a heroes. Where you can choose to be hero or villian. Then decide weather who you want to me Mentored by weather it be Superman Wonder Woman and Batman as a hero. Or by Lex Luthor, Cierce, and the Joker (I personally wanted to be mentored by either Green Lantern or Sinestro) I went with the Joker. Then you choose your power set that suits you in my case I chose Mental Powers. Then choose your basic attack set I went with Hand Blasters since I thought they would compliment the Mental Powers well( and imo extremely well). Then you start with either choosing a custom pallet or and already made pallet that is modeled after various heroes and villains. I ended up creating some sort of robot. So to recap I created a Robot with Mental Powers that is mentored by the Joker……that makes sense right :).

Then you start off having woken up in a ship controlled by Brainiac that also serves as the Tutorial for each and every character. As you are blasting your way through several Brainiac drones you are being guided by either Oracle or the Calculator depending on your alliance. When you reach the end you get to fight along side although very brief with either Superman or Luthor as you hold off hordes of Brainiac drones as you escape. From there you then begin the real game first being introduced to you’re mentor of choice and from there running errands as you see fit. When you reach level 8 you are then formally invited even though the level doest matter to the Watchtower or the Hall of Doom.

For PVP which is very good and fun there are 2 forms 1 which involves using your created character for ctf or territories or a Legends PVP where you can play as the likes of Batman Joker Harle Quin or even Bane for primarily territories games There vaults which provide a game of random chance as to what items you can pick up which is lead by the Joker who welcomes you with such glee. Then there are Alerts which are your basic group dungeons just without the hauling to location x to enter it. You just Que up and them waiting for a group to be formed and the same goes for the Raids. They also have wanted missions where you can hunt down the liked of Solomon Grundy or Doctor Fate who are located throughout Gotham and Metropolis. That friends is the downside right now is that the game has 2 primary zones in Gotham and Metropolis but expansions are due out especially with the Catwoman one just around the corner. The names of the server also have me amused since they are all named after famous story arcs such as the Killing Joke and No Mans Land.

DCU Online is out in stores for the PC and PS3 I highly reccomend this game and if you want to hook up be a villian and search for the Angry Robot on the Birthright serve.
